Mediate UK is a family mediation provider operating in England and Wales as a trading name of Family Legal Ltd, the publisher of this wiki. Alongside the mediation service, Family Legal Ltd publishes a group of information and support websites about family mediation, family law, legal aid, court forms, child maintenance and life after separation, together with free online tools and the six .wiki reference sites of which this page is part.[1] Family Legal Ltd’s history page records that most of these brands were launched during 2026.[2]
Every site described on this page is owned by the same company that owns Mediate UK. Several of them, including C100 Form, ConsentOrder.org.uk and MIAM UK, sell or refer readers to paid services of Family Legal Ltd; others, such as Legal Aid 60 and childmaintenance.org.uk, describe themselves as independent information resources while stating their ownership.[3][4][5][6] This wiki lists them for transparency, so that a reader who encounters one of these sites can see its relationship to the mediation service and to the publisher of this article.
Overview
Family Legal Ltd lists nineteen brands in three groups: legal services and information, support and moving forward, and local mediation brands.[1] The local mediation brands are described on locations, and the legal services brand Family Law Service on Family Law Service. This page covers the information and support sites, the reference wikis, the tools and the one book associated with the company. Each site is described in a single paragraph, in the site’s own terms where quoted, with the price of any paid service it offers.
Ownership and transparency
All of the sites below are published by Family Legal Ltd, registered in England and Wales with company number 16431127 and registered office at Access Business Centre, Willoughby Road, Bracknell. Each site states this in its footer or about page, though the prominence varies.[1][7][5] None of the sites is a government, charity or regulator site, and several say so expressly: Legal Aid 60 states that “It is not GOV.UK, the Legal Aid Agency or a government service, and it cannot decide whether you qualify for legal aid”; childmaintenance.org.uk states that it is “not connected to the CMS, the DWP or GOV.UK”; and McKenzie Friend Services states that it is “Not a law firm and not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority”.[5][6][8] A reader using any of them for a decision about legal aid, court proceedings or money should check the official source, which each site links to.
Information sites
Mediation Guide
Mediation Guide (mediationguide.co.uk) describes itself as a free educational resource on family mediation, the law and the costs in England and Wales. Its sections cover family mediation, MIAMs, costs and funding, children, and money and law, and it hosts a mediation-versus-court cost calculator, a co-parenting schedule builder and a voucher eligibility checker. Its content is stated to be fact-checked by Chris Yaffes, an FMC-accredited mediator on the Mediate UK panel.[7][1]
MIAM UK
MIAM UK (miam.uk.com) explains what a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting is and lets readers book one; booking is handled through Mediate UK. It publishes a free MIAM preparation checklist and the data methodology page that sets out the numerators and denominators behind the company’s published percentages.[9][10][11] The data is described on published data.
Legal Aid 60
Legal Aid 60 (legalaid60.org.uk) is “an independent information website operated by Family Legal Ltd” about family legal aid in England and Wales. It explains the two separate schemes, legal aid for mediation and legal aid for a solicitor, and maintains a table of the means test limits, effective from 6 April 2026, compiled from the Legal Aid Agency’s eligibility keycard.[5][12]
C100 Form
C100Form.co.uk offers the current C100 application form to download free, explains how to complete it, and sells completion of the form by McKenzie Friends for £240, or £350 with Cafcass preparation, with MIAM bookings referred to Mediate UK. It states that it is operated by Family Legal Ltd.[3] The form completion work is unregulated paralegal work delivered through Family Law Service, which is not itself SRA-regulated.[13]
ConsentOrder.org.uk
ConsentOrder.org.uk is a fixed-fee drafting service for couples who have already agreed how to divide their finances on divorce, offering a clean break consent order for £499 including VAT, drafted by a family law practitioner and a qualified paralegal rather than a solicitor. It states that it is operated by Family Legal Ltd.[4] It is the same £499 paralegal-drafted product sold by Family Law Service, and is distinct from the solicitor-drafted consent order package sold with mediation by Mediate UK, which is described on services.
childmaintenance.org.uk
childmaintenance.org.uk is a free guide to child maintenance in England and Wales with a calculator that applies the statutory rates. It is published by Family Legal Ltd and states that it is “not connected to the CMS, the DWP or GOV.UK”.[6]
McKenzie Friend Services
McKenzie Friend Services (mckenziefriendservices.com) is an information site about representing oneself in the family court, setting out what a McKenzie Friend may and may not do. It sells nothing directly, states that it is “Not a law firm and not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority”, and links to Family Law Service, which it identifies as operated by the same company.[8]
Divorce Magpie
Divorce Magpie (divorcemagpie.com) is a guide to what a divorce costs in England and Wales, covering court fees, solicitor charges and lower-cost alternatives, with five free browser tools including a divorce cost estimator. It states that it is published by Family Legal Ltd.[14]
Support sites
Four sites address the personal rather than the legal side of separation. Kids and Divorce (kidsanddivorce.co.uk) offers age-appropriate guidance in three sections, for children aged 6 to 11, teenagers aged 12 to 18 and parents.[15] From Dads to Dads (fromdadstodads.org.uk) is a support resource for fathers, covering mental health, legal matters, co-parenting, money, housing, fitness and relationships.[16] Maypole (maypole.org.uk) is the counterpart for women, organised around money and career, legal and divorce, parenting, dating and relationships, and wellness.[17] The Divorce Circle (thedivorcecircle.co.uk) publishes free calculators and guides, a parenting plan generator and a peer community on Facebook.[18] Each states that it is published by Family Legal Ltd, and each carries links to the company’s mediation and legal services.[15][16][17][18]
The six .wiki sites
Family Legal Ltd publishes six reference sites in the form of encyclopaedic articles with numbered references: Family Mediation Wiki (familymediation.wiki), on family mediation in England and Wales; Family Court Wiki (familycourt.wiki), on the Family Court, its forms and hearings; Family Law Wiki (familylaw.wiki), a map of family law; Divorce Law Wiki (divorcelaw.wiki), on divorce and its financial consequences; Separation Wiki (separation.wiki), on relationship breakdown; and this site, Mediate UK Wiki, a single organisation article about Mediate UK. Each article is written by a member of the company’s staff, reviewed by a named mediator or director, dated, and cites primary sources; the editorial policy, including the rule that company sites are cited only for claims about themselves, is on about this site.
Tools
| Tool | Site | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Legal aid eligibility checker | mediateuk.co.uk | Applies the Legal Aid Agency’s income and capital limits to the user’s answers and returns an indication | “an indication only”; final assessment at the MIAM[19] |
| MIAM checklist | miam.uk.com | Interactive preparation checklist covering the meeting, parenting, finances, alternatives and next steps | Free[10] |
| Parenting plan generator | thedivorcecircle.co.uk | Produces a draft parenting plan from the user’s answers | Free[18] |
| Mediation versus court cost calculator | mediationguide.co.uk | Estimates the cost of mediation against contested proceedings | Free; estimates are the site’s own[7] |
| Co-parenting schedule builder | mediationguide.co.uk | Builds a shared-care calendar | Free[7] |
| Voucher eligibility checker | mediationguide.co.uk | Indicates whether a case may qualify for the £500 Family Mediation Voucher | Free[7] |
| Child maintenance calculator | childmaintenance.org.uk | Applies the statutory child maintenance rates | Free; not a Child Maintenance Service calculation[6] |
| Divorce cost estimator | divorcemagpie.com | Estimates the cost of a divorce from the user’s circumstances | Free[14] |
None of the tools gives a determination. The legal aid checker, for example, states that “Final confirmation will be made at your MIAM using the LAA’s official means test”, and the official route is GOV.UK’s own checker.[19] Mediate UK’s legal aid position is on legal aid.
Book
Jess Knauf, the company’s Director of Client Strategy and the author of this wiki’s articles, is the author of a book, “The Complete Guide to Divorce in England and Wales”, which the company’s page describes as updated annually and published on Amazon Kindle.[20] The Amazon listing could not be fetched for this article because the retailer’s site blocks automated access, so the title, format and publication details are stated on the authority of the company’s page only.
